Black ice is attributed as the cause of a 10 vehicle auto collision in Cincinnati today. Three people were taken to the emergency room and six of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The collision happened at Harrison Avenue and Race Road.

Black ice is a major cause of weather-related automobile collisions, as it has the same appearance as a wet road surface. Drivers should be especially careful on bridges during freezing weather, as bridges are especially vulnerable to black ice. If you are on an icy bridge, do not suddenly apply the brakes. Also, if you do start to skid, turn into the skid and do not try to physically stop the car. In the unfortunate event of an accident, do not get out of your vehicle on the bridge, as this could lead to further accidents.
